The 18th judicial district attorney s seat has been held by republicans since 1969.
The 18th will continue to exist but will only handle arapahoe county cases moving forward. Democrat amy padden and republican john kellner are vying for the 18th judicial district attorney seat and as of monday. The district which includes arapahoe douglas elbert and lincoln counties will be broken into two.
The winner will face unopposed republican john kellner in november s general election.
Ballots were being mailed to voters starting june 8. 2024 voters in douglas elbert and lincoln counties will elect the first ever district attorney of the new 23rd judicial district.
